Boston is one of the best and most famous cities in all of the United States of America – so naturally, there are plenty of things to do in Boston. Truth be told, this is a city for everyone, regardless of what type of travelers they may be.
What are some of the best things to do in Boston?

#1. The Museum of Fine Arts Boston
Boston is quite well-known for the environment that fosters the development of arts and culture. As a center of intellectualism ever since the very beginning of the United States as an independent country, it makes sense that the Museum of Fine Arts Boston would be on our list.
This is the fifth largest museum in all of USA, and it was opened in 1876. The collections inside include works of art from all over the world, and from different time periods as well (including contemporary art).
You can find the Museum of fine Arts Boston at 465 Huntington Ave, Boston, MA 02115, USA. The nearest means of transportation are the Green Line E train (which stops right at the museum) or the Orange Line train (which stops at the Ruggles, nearby).
You can visit the Museum of Fine Arts Boston every day from Wednesday to Friday from 10 am to 10 pm, and from 10 am to 5 pm for the remainder of the week.
A tour of the museum can take anything between one hour and several hours (depending on how much you dwell in front of every work of art).
Last, but not least, tickets are priced between $10 and $25.
#2. The New England Aquarium
If you are wondering what to do in Boston that will be appreciated by the entire family, give this one a go. Aquariums are always fun to visit, and the one in Boston is quite interesting for sure.
With an area of 6,967 m², the aquarium fosters more than 20,000 animals inside (across 600 different species), and offers fun activities (including whale watching!).
You can find the New England Aquarium at 1 Central Wharf, Boston, MA 02110, USA. You can get there by bus, by train, or by subway. The buses that stop in the area are 325, 501, 554, 556, and SL4. The trains you can take to this destination are Framingham/ Worcester Line, the Greenbush Line, and the Haverhill Line. The sub that will stop nearby is the Blue Line.
The Aquarium is open every day from 9 am to 5 pm, and visiting it can take up to a few hours (depending on how many of its activities you want to enjoy).
Tickets for adults are $31 and $22 for children aged between 3 and 11 (children under 3 are admitted for free).
#3. The Museum of Science
It makes all the sense in the world that Boston would foster such a museum as well. If you want to get entertained by really interesting science exhibitions, this is the place to be! The Museum of Science in Boston was opened nearly 200 years ago, but don’t expect it to be anything but very modern and contemporary.
With various interactive exhibitions and even an IMAX, this museum is bound to be fun for the entire family.
You can find the Museum of Science at the Museum Of Science Driveway, Boston, MA 02114, USA. The closest sub is the Green Line, but you can take the Red Line from Park Street, and then change to the Orange Line at the North Station. Similarly, you can take the Blue Line and change at Line Street into the Orange Line.
The Museum is open every day from 9 am to 5 pm, with the exception of Fridays, when it will stay open until 9 pm.
Furthermore, ticket prices vary according to what you want to see inside, but if you want to have access to everything, it will be $37 for an adult and $32 for children between 3 and 11 years old. This is definitely one of the best fun things to do in Boston!
#4. The Paul Revere House
If you like history, and if the history of Boston itself fascinates you, then you will definitely love visiting the Paul Revere House – the oldest house in Boston. This was built at the end of the 17th century and it was the house of Paul Revere during the American Revolution.
As you might know, Revere was one of the most preeminent figures of the American Revolution and one of the earliest industrialists in America.
The house can be found at 19 N Square, Boston, MA 02113, USA, and the closest means of transportation is the Green Line.
Furthermore, you might also want to know that the house is open every day from 9:30 am to 5:15 pm (4:15 during the winter, starting with November), and ticket prices for adults cost $5. This may not be free, but it definitely is one of the best almost free things to do in Boston.
#5. The Boston Public Garden
This is one of the best free things to do in Boston. With more than 9.7 ha in the surface, the Boston Public Garden is a real pleasure for the eye, for the soul, and for your overall mood.
With views that are more than pleasing and arrangements that are unique and unforgettable in their own right, the Boston Public Garden is a staple of the entire city – something you absolutely must not miss out on.
You will find it on 4 Charles St, Boston, MA 02116, USA, and you can get there by taking bus 43 or 55, by taking the Fitchburg line, Framingham/ Worcester Line, or the Needham line if you go by train, or by taking the Green Line B, the Green Line D, or the Orange Line if you go by subway.
#6. The Old North Church
Undoubtedly, one of the oldest buildings in all of Boston, and a splendid staple of Georgian architecture. Built at the beginning of the 18th century, the church is now a must-see when you come to Boston.
You will find the Old North Church at 193 Salem St, Boston, MA 02113, USA, and you can get there by taking the buses 43, 92, or 93, the Fairmont Line, Fitchburg Line, and Framingham/ Worcester Line trains, or the Green Line C, Green Line E, or Orange Line if you decide to go there by subway.
You can visit the church every day from 9 am to 6 pm, except for Sunday, when tours begin at 12:30 pm. Do keep in mind that the tours might follow a different schedule during wintertime!
Tickets for adults cost $8, and all children over 6 years of age can enter for $6.
#7. Boston’s Children Museum
Founded in 1913, this museum is truly one of a kind. The entire place is dedicated to teaching children about pretty much everything (and it is one of the oldest establishments of this kind!).
You can find Boston’s Children Museum at 308 Congress St, Boston, MA 02210, USA. To get there, you can take the bus (4, 459, 501, 7), the Silver Line Waterfront (SL2, SL4), the train (Fitchburg Line, Worcester Line, Greenbush Line, Haverhill Line, or Lakeville Line), or the subway (the Red Line).
You can visit the museum every day from 10 am to 5 pm, except for Fridays, when the museum is open until 9 pm. General admission costs $18, but they regularly have campaigns and allow entrance for as little as $1!
